Process Of Investment Casting

Die Manufacturing

A metal die (mold) is designed and manufactured to produce wax patterns of the required component shape.

Injection of Wax Patterns

Molten wax is injected into the die to create wax replicas of the final part.

Pattern Assembly to Clusters

Individual wax patterns are assembled around a central wax sprue to form a cluster or “tree”.

Ceramic Shell Build-Up

The wax cluster is repeatedly: Dipped in ceramic slurry Coated with refractory stucco

Dewaxing by Autoclave

The ceramic-coated wax assembly is heated to melt and remove the wax, leaving a hollow ceramic mold.

Pouring of Metal

Liquid metal is poured into the preheated ceramic mold.

Ceramic Shell Removal

After cooling and solidification, the ceramic shell is broken off. Shot blasting may be used for cleaning.

Cut-off

Individual cast parts are cut from the metal cluster.

Grinding of Ingates & Finishing

Excess metal (gates and risers) is removed and surfaces are ground to required finish.

Heat Treatment

Components are heat treated to improve mechanical properties.

Inspection

Final inspection is carried out for quality accuracy and defects.
